US Disneyland Lays Off 28,000 Employees


( Washington, 30th Sept 2020) The Walt Disney Company announced on Tuesday (September 29) that theme parks in the United States will lay off 28,000 employees, two-thirds of which will be part-time employees.


Josh D'Amaro, president of Disney’s theme park business, issued a statement saying that considering the limitations of the park itself and the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the California government’s unwillingness to lift restrictions on the reopening of Disney parks, Disney has The decision to lay off employees.


Before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Disney had more than 100,000 employees in theme parks in the United States, excluding employees of its cruise line companies and other departments. As of the end of the previous fiscal year in September 2019, Disney's total number of employees reached 223,000.
