( Beijing, 7th August 2020 ) On the 6th August 2020, the Ministry of Transport of China issued the "Guiding Opinions on Promoting the Construction of New-type Infrastructure in the Transport Field", in which the development and testing of high-speed maglev trains with a speed of 600 kilometers per hour aroused concern.
This plan takes technological innovation, digitization, networking and intelligence as the main axis to accelerate the achievement of the overall goal of building a strong transportation country and promote the upgrading and transformation of transportation. This "Guiding Opinions" proposes that by 2035, China will achieve significant results in the transportation field. In terms of building an integrated and efficient smart transportation infrastructure, the "Guiding Opinions" propose to build smart roads, smart railways, smart waterways, smart ports, smart civil aviation, smart post, and promote the application of new energy and new materials industry.
According to Chinese media analysis, the current maximum operating speed of high-speed rail is 350 kilometers per hour, and the cruising speed of aircraft is 800 to 900 kilometers per hour. The high-speed magnetic levitation of 600 kilometers per hour can fill the gap between high-speed rail and aviation.
