( Malacca, 16th Sept 2020 ) Malacca has been selected as the "Smart Grid" of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and has become one of the pilot cities.
A total of 28 cities in 11 countries around the world have been selected to participate in the program, and Malacca is one of the selected cities.
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian Government Industrial High Technology Group (MIGHT), Datuk Mohd Yusof, stated that the United Nations Industrial Development Organization provided RM50 million for the project.
"The entire plan lasts for 5 years."
He pointed out this to reporters after attending the "Smart Grid" launch ceremony yesterday.
Participants at this event included Datuk Willa Abu Bakar, Chief Executive Officer of Kap State Green Technology Agency, Kap State Executive Councillor Datuk Rosland, Datuk Willa Ismail Osman, and Mayor Abu Datuk Zainab.
He said that participating units can use the collected data as a basis for improving electricity consumption and further promote smart electricity consumption.
Expand To The Whole Country In Stages
The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government of Malaysia, Datuk Zai Na Abidin, said in a speech that the pilot project was implemented by the Malaysian Government Industrial High-Tech Group.
He said that the "smart grid" pilot program is actually one of the characteristics of smart cities, and once the pilot program is successful, the program will be expanded to the whole country in phases in the future.
