Less Contact To Avoid Infection, 4 Hospitals In Singapore Introduce Robots

( Singapore, 24th Sept 2020 ) The West 4 hospitals in Singapore use robots, drones and touch-free technology to reduce the risk of visitors from contracting the virus, strengthen hospital safety and improve operational efficiency, and save half of the manpower and material resources.

"Lianhe Zaobao" reported that the 4 hospitals that adopted the new technology were Alexandria Hospital, National University Hospital, Huang Tingfang General Hospital and Jurong Community Hospital.

Robot Taking Body Temperature

Among them, Huang Tingfang General Hospital will launch two security robots from October 1st, one of which can cooperate with frontline security personnel to patrol, eliminate their work fatigue, and allow them to perform higher-value tasks. Another robot can assist visitors to measure body temperature and perform SafeEntry visitor login, thereby reducing security personnel's contact with visitors and the risk of virus infection.

The remaining three hospitals will also launch these robots and touch-free elevators one after another.

UAV Inspects The Periphery Of The Hospital Building

Since October last year, 4 hospitals have also used drones to assist facility management, including replacing mechanical baskets, inspecting the surroundings of the hospital and the exterior walls of the building to check for Aedes mosquito breeding sites and the need for maintenance.

They also use Internet of Things (IoT) sensors to monitor the water level, temperature and humidity of a specific location, detect whether there is flooding, and detect fire or overheating in the first place to avoid damage to equipment and facilities.

Huang Jianchuan, Chief Operating Officer of the National University Medical Organization Group, which manages the 4 hospitals, pointed out that in addition to reducing exposure, technology also helps hospitals respond quickly in any situation, thereby maintaining the safety of patients, staff and the public.
