Epidemic in Southeast Asia Worsens, Confirmed Cases In Indonesia Exceed 100,000



( Jakarta, 28th July 2020 ) The coronavirus epidemic in many Southeast Asian countries continues to worsen. According to the coronavirus epidemic data released by the Indonesian National Disaster Relief Agency on the 27th, the number of confirmed cases in the country has increased by 1525 compared with the previous day, with a total of 100,303 confirmed cases; a total of 4,838 deaths .


The data also shows that East Java Province is the provincial administrative region that has reported the most confirmed and dead cases. So far, it has confirmed a total of 2812 cases and a total of 1,608 deaths.


In the Philippines, 1657 new cases were confirmed in a single day on the 27th, with a total of 82,040 confirmed cases; 16 new deaths and a total of 1945 deaths.


In view of the development trend of the Philippine epidemic, Philippine President Duterte said in his fifth State of the Union address that day that he expressed confidence in the improvement of the country’s testing capabilities and proposed the goal of completing 1.4 million tests nationwide by the end of July. .


The latest data released by the Ministry of Health of Vietnam on the 27th showed that all 11 newly diagnosed cases that day came from Da Nang City, of which 7 were hospitalized patients and 4 were medical staff, all of whom are currently receiving isolation treatment in hospitals. A total of 431 cases have been confirmed nationwide, with no deaths.
